How to Mod Podge Your Ceiling Fan!

March 28th, 2011

This is what it will look like if you follow my tutorial;)

Cut a peice of wrapping paper. Make sure that the paper is 2 inches longer on all of the sides.

Just like this.

Now... Here's where the mod podge comes in! Get messy and paint it on there;) Make sure to put enough!

Put a glop in the middle..... It helps;) NOW paint it! hehe

Lay your paper over the painted MP (mod podge) (we have a code name) hehe;)

Paint, paint, paint! YES morrrreeeeee painting with the MP (our code-name) hehe.
Wait about an hour. Then flip it over and PAINT, look at the pic under this one to see how much to paint it with the MP;)

This is how much!!!!!

Cut the ends into sections:) Like so.

Fold them over and put MP on:) As shown above;)

NOW fold over the edges and let everything dry:) This was the final step:) I hope you loved the tutorial!

Valentines Parade of Ideas (Third Post)

February 11th, 2011

This Valentines Parade of Ideas post is from…..

http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/glittery_heart_card.htm

This Glittery Heart Card is a quick and easy – but very effective – Valentine’s Day card for kids to make. You will need: Card blank Glue in an applicator type bottle Glitter Instructions: With your glue, draw a heart shape on your card. Younger children might like to draw around a heart template in pencil first, then trace over with glue. We embellished our heart with swirls, you can decorate however you like. Sprinkle all over with glitter. Leave to dry and then shake off any excess glitter.

Valentines Day Parade of Ideas! (Second post!!)

February 9th, 2011

I found this Valentines Day Parade of Ideas craft at….. http://crafts.kaboose.com/flower2.html

These flowers are quick to make and the children enjoy making them. Younger children may need some help with accordion-pleating the tissue paper.

What you’ll need:

  • Pastel colored tissue paper
  • Chenille stem
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

How to make it:

  1. Cut tissue paper into rectangles of desired size (5″x7″ is the size pictured – see photo).
  2. Stack around 15 pieces of tissue paper. Use the same color or different colors. If you want to use a smaller number of pieces of tissue paper, flower will not be as full.
  3. Accordion pleat the tissue paper working from the long side.
  4. Wind one end of the chenille stem around the middle of the accordion pleated tissue paper. (See photo).
  5. Trim the ends of each side to give the pedals a unique look. Trimming the ends into a point (like a triangle), or a bump (like a half circle) will look very pretty.
  6. Gently separate each layer (see photo) pulling upwards toward the middle of the flower. (See photo). Do the second side. (See photo).
  7. Let the children make a couple of flowers and put them in a May Basket. Early on the morning of May 1st hang on your mother’s door, a neighbor’s door, a friend’s, or anyone special to you. Remember, it’s supposed to be a surprise!

Tips:

  1. If you want to give your flowers some leaves, include a stack of green tissue paper folded accordion style during step 3. Trim the green paper into a shape of a leaf.

Valentine’s Day Parade of Ideas! (Here is the First Feature)

February 9th, 2011
  1. To make one, help your child roll a 24-inch square of heavy wrapping paper or drawing paper into a large cone and then flatten it. Secure the loose edge with tape, then trim the top of the cone to form the top of a heart.
  2. For a handle, staple a 22-inch length of wide ribbon onto the bag, covering the ends of the staples with tape. (Tip: To keep the staples from tearing the paper, stick a piece of tape on the bag where each staple will go beforehand.)
  3. Next, cut a heart shape from colored paper or card stock and write on your child’s name. Attach the tag to the front of the bag with a glue stick or double-sided tape, and the tote is ready to go.
